Between national conferences, in-state site visits and stakeholder meetings, the Colorado Health Institute staff will be on the road this week and next.
President and CEO Michele Lueck, Director of Community Health Sara Schmitt and Policy Analyst Jessica Fern will travel to New Orleans this week for the 14th annual National Network of Public Health Institute (NNPHI) conference. The theme, Building Healthy Communities in Our Connected World: A Vision for 2020, frames the conference’s focus on the role of public health institutes and system partners in developing strategies, collaboration opportunities and innovative approaches to the implementation of community health priorities.
As was mentioned in last week’s blog, Michele was recently named to the board of NNPHI.
There are two opportunities for attendees to catch Team CHI in action.
First up, Sara will present a poster on CHI’s work around the Medicaid oral health workforce. The report looked at the capacity of Colorado’s workforce to care for the record number of low-income adults covered with a dental benefit through Medicaid.
On Thursday, Sara will present a breakout session called “Sharing Data, Sharing Services: Practical Strategies and Lessons Learned” on CHI’s experience working with local public health agencies in Colorado on issues of data sharing. The breakout will also include shared experiences from Illinois and Kansas.
Back in Colorado, many CHI staffers are finding themselves outside of our Denver office and out in the state’s more wide open spaces.
Senior Analyst Tasia Sinn and Policy Analyst Jefferey Riester are in Rifle for a meeting of the No Wrong Door stakeholder group. This is the final large group meeting for the project. You can read a summary of CHI’s work in this project here.
Jefferey will travel to Pueblo on Wednesday, when he and Senior Communications Expert Joe Hanel will conduct an interview for our Reaching Our Peak publication.
The Report Card team is also on the road this week and next conducting site visits for a publication on patient-centered medical homes to be released this summer.
While some staff are on the road, there is plenty of action back in the office.
Senior analyst Anna Vigran’s report on behavioral health integration is set to be released this Thursday at the National Governor’s Association convening on workforce in Denver.
Speaking of behavioral health, be sure to check out our newly released behavioral health data workbooks for state and regional data on adults, high school students and children.
