Health Reform, the Supreme Court Ruling and the November Elections: What Does It All Mean for Colorado?

October 3, 2012

This presentation, given by Michele Lueck at the AHEC/CHI Conversation Series October discussion, provides information about the implications of the Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Three key findings about the ruling are that the ruling, if nothing else, moved the debate about the ACA from the legal realm to the political realm; implementation will be shaped by both national and state policies; and the election in Novemeber will have significant impact on the long term viability of the ACA.

The presentation further outlines five implications of the ACA ruling and provides details for each:

  • Will we choose to expand Medicaid?
  • Will the Exchange be ready?
  • What will our Essential Health Benefits include?
  • Can we drive behavior change?
  • Will implementation be smooth?
