Advances in information technology have made itpossible to implement a virtual network of clinicalinformation on a statewide basis. The particularcharacter of this connectivity and the amount ofinformation being shared on such a network shouldbe determined based on the needs andcharacteristics of the diverse communities of thestate. The timeframe and pathway to achieving thisconnectivity must be negotiated based oncommunity readiness, shared leadership, resources,and collaborative partnerships.
