“The idea that hospitals and doctors are falsely inflating COVID numbers and even putting patients on ventilators to drive up their payments is not just ridiculous, but it’s insulting to the doctors who are putting their own lives at risk," CHI's Joe Hanel told The Denver Post.

A new resource launched by the Colorado Health Institute, in partnership with The Colorado Health Foundation, offers a new lens on how these factors influence mental health and how they play out in different Colorado communities.

The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting social-distancing requirements have forced a new reality on the health care system. One of the most significant and potentially long-lasting changes may be the rapid adoption of telemedicine as a method of care delivery.

"The state has really tried everything that it can to expand the ability for Coloradans to use telehealth," CHI's Jeff Bontrager told 9News.

A new interactive map from the Colorado Health Institute pinpoints census tracts where people are likely to have the hardest time staying isolated because of crowded housing, dense neighborhoods, or the nature of their work. 

CHI helped the prepare a policy agenda to improve the system for these children with special health care needs and their caregivers.

CHI built a first-of-its-kind Child Care Model to offer a new look at how Colorado’s youngest children are being cared for today — and how the system would have to change to meet parents’ preferred choices for care.

Colorado lawmakers will have to decide whether the state’s health-care costs are so high they warrant that kind of public interference, says Michele Lueck, president of the Colorado Health Institute, a nonpartisan research group.
