Nina Roumell
Nina is a former research analyst at CHI. She joined CHI in July 2014 as a research analyst. Prior to that, she was a public interest fellow at Colorado Consumer Health Initiative in Denver where she worked on the rollout of Connect for Health Colorado and provided education and outreach materials to consumers about the changing health care landscape. She also collected consumers’ experiences with the health care system and shared them through blogs and various media outlets. During state legislative session, Nina tracked health care- related bills and researched compliance with previous legislation.
Nina graduated from Colorado College in August 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in neuroscience and a passion for health care. To learn more about health care policy and delivery, she completed an EMT class. In 2011, Nina traveled to India and analyzed the effectiveness of a government initiative in combating children’s malnutrition. She visited rural villages in Dharamsala and learned about the diet of young children and pregnant mothers and how local health workers were educating the community.
Nina has worked near her hometown of Washington, D.C., as a community organizer for Housing Works. She hosted community events to garner support for a march to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in the D.C. Metro area.
While at Colorado College, Nina was captain of the varsity track team and a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
