Phoebe MacKenzie

Health Policy Intern

Phoebe joined the Colorado Health Institute in June 2018 as a Health Policy Intern.

She is working on a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Global Health from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. At Middlebury she participates in the maintenance of a 24-hour hotline and engages in-person advocacy for peers who are affected by power-based personal violence. She has completed 120-plus hours of training in empathic listening, confidentiality, and crisis assessment and management. Phoebe also serves as the campaigns coordinator for Middlebury’s health equity club and teaches spin classes.

While at school, Phoebe works in Middlebury’s Title IX office where she serves as a research intern and helps develop content concerning sexual and dating violence prevention at Middlebury’s (100-plus) schools and programs.

Last summer, she interned at the Center for Work Education and Employment (CWEE) in Denver where she developed a report on the link between access to transportation and poverty alleviation to increase external funding possibilities for CWEE’s transportation program. Also at CWEE, she created materials and participated in the planning process for the organization’s first evening event, which raised more than $200,000.

Phoebe is a member of the CLIMB internship program in Denver and is looking forward to being home for the summer and enjoying the Colorado sunshine.
