Colorado’s warming climate is hazardous to our health. Extreme heat takes a toll on the human body and increases environmental perils, such as fires, air pollution, and floods. Acclimate Colorado, an initiative of the Colorado Health Institute, is working to drive policy changes that will help Colorado communities become more resilient in the face of climate change and improve health equity for the people most profoundly and unfairly affected.
Adapting to a warming world does not mean surrendering to climate change.
What We Can Do

Research
As disasters driven by climate change become more frequent and intense, governments and communities face challenges protecting the lives, health, and homes of residents. In a first-of-its-kind project, the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) explored the relationship between wildfires, homeowners insurance, and health to identify opportunities to reduce wildfire risk and improve insurance access for Colorado communities.
