CHI’s Annual Report Goes Interactive

How many information requests from the public did the Colorado Health Institute answer in 2014? How many presentations did our team give? And how many publications went out the door?

The answers to these questions and more are revealed in our 2014 annual report, which we posted on our website today. For the first time, our annual report will be interactive.

Meanwhile, the Colorado Health Institute, in collaboration with the Colorado Health Foundation, has released a new Colorado Health Report Card Data Spotlight that explores trends in Hispanic health. The report delves into data on physical activity, obesity, teen fertility, insurance coverage and more. It is available in both English and Spanish. Research analyst Natalie Triedman will post a blog about the findings later this week.

Senior analyst Tasia Sinn and policy analyst Jefferey Riester headed to Alamosa last Friday to attend the third of four meetings of the Planning Advisory Group of the No Wrong Door grant. The group has provided input and guidance on how to implement a No Wrong Door system in Colorado. The No Wrong Door system is intended to help LTSS consumers navigate and access services with an emphasis on person-centered planning.

The group has provided input on the overall vision, how consumers will interface with the No Wrong Door system and how to develop the No Wrong Door to meet consumer needs and educate consumers about their options. The fourth meeting will wrap up loose ends. CHI will then tie it all together in a proposed three-year implementation plan to be submitted to the Administration for Community Living for implementation funding in September.

Two members of the CHI team will give presentations this week.

Jeff Bontrager, director of research on coverage and access, will present to a convening in Denver of the Children in the Vanguard network organized by the National Academy for State Health Policy. NASHP’s Children in the Vanguard initiative focuses on children’s coverage in the context of health reform. Jeff will speak on a panel titled “Innovations in Measurement in Caring for Children”

Senior director for policy and analysis Amy Downs will travel to Vail this weekend to give a presentation at the Colorado Medical Society’s spring conference. Amy will discuss 10 pivotal health care bills from the past 10 years and the problems they were intended to remedy.
