2009 COHC coverThe forerunner to the Colorado Health Access Survey — the Colorado Household Survey (COHS) — was initiated in 2008-2009. The main objective of the COHS was to provide baseline information about health care coverage and access in Colorado in anticipation of state and national health reform efforts. The survey was sponsored by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing and funded by The Colorado Trust. The Colorado Health Institute administered the survey and handles the maintenance of the data.

A separate survey report and followup reports were not produced. Data from the 2009 COHS is available to download here.

What is the CHAS?

The Colorado Health Access Survey – the CHAS – is the premier source of information on health insurance coverage, access to health care and use of health care services in Colorado. More than 10,000 households in the state have been interviewed every other year since 2009, allowing comparisons across a time marked by sweeping changes in health policy.
