Hot Issues in Health to Highlight Federal Policy Impacts, Preview Legislative Session

The Colorado Health Institute’s annual Hot Issues in Health conference will gather policymakers, community health advocates, nonprofit leaders, providers, insurers, academics, and other stakeholders to discuss impacts of the recent election and look ahead to 2025. Hosted by the Colorado Health Institute in partnership with the Colorado School of Public Health, this year’s sold-out event will take place on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Registration for online attendance is still available, and the program will be offered with real-time Spanish interpretation both online and in person.

For more than two decades, Hot Issues in Health has been a cornerstone for critical conversations and thought leadership, addressing the most pressing health policy challenges facing Colorado. In 2024, the conference features a streamlined half-day format devoted to the most urgent questions of the day, ensuring attendees gain actionable insights and the opportunity for meaningful engagement.

This year’s program includes

  • Colorado in Context: A presentation on the federal health policy landscape and the 2024 election's implications for Colorado.
  • Veteran Journalists Panel: Insights into election results and the role of public communication in navigating polarization.
  • Legislative Preview: CHI’s signature analysis of the 2025 state legislative session and an expert panel discussing key budgetary and policy decisions.

“As we approach a pivotal moment for our state and nation, these discussions are more important than ever,” said Sara Schmitt, President and CEO of the Colorado Health Institute. “Our mission is to strengthen communities and systems through trusted analysis and collaboration, and Hot Issues in Health is an essential part of advancing that mission.”
