New webinar series from the Colorado Health Institute: Hot Issues in Health Replay
The Colorado Health Institute (CHI) is pleased to share presentations about substance use policy, two-generation approaches to policymaking, clinical community linkages, and climate change and health through a new webinar series: Hot Issues in Health Replay.
The webinars spotlight issues first shared at CHI's Hot Issues in Health conference in December 2018.
The series will feature four sessions on Wednesdays from 12-1 pm. Sessions are free and open to the public. Register for any or all of the sessions at this link.
Uniting the Head and the Heart: A Framework for Substance Use Disorder Policymaking
Our world is not driven by evidence alone. Policymakers should anticipate the politics, context, and values that influence policymaking — especially when it comes to substance use disorders. This session presents a framework to guide discussions about substance use policy likely to arise in 2019. Presenters: Alex Caldwell and Jalyn Ingalls. February 6, 2019, 12-1pm
All in the Family: A Two-Generation Approach for a Stronger Colorado
We know that helping our families thrive means meeting the needs of parents and children with a coordinated approach. In this session, we’ll talk about why a two-generation approach is a bipartisan opportunity to make a real impact on the health of our families. We’ll also share some of the challenges in this approach and how Colorado has begun to address them. Presenters: Sara Schmitt and Tamara Keeney. February 13, 2019, 12-1pm
Making a Global Health Issue Local: Introducing CHI’s Health and Climate Index
What parts of the state have more people vulnerable to health problems from a changing climate? The answer might surprise you. This session debuts CHI’s new Health and Climate Index — a local look at how climate can affect health in regions across Colorado. Presenters: Karam Ahmad and Chrissy Esposito. February 20, 2019, 12-1pm
Live Long and Prosper: Community-Clinical Solutions to the Problems that Kill Us:
Join Colorado’s Regional Health Connector team as they boldly go beyond the comforts of the clinic walls, seek out the social determinants of health, and explore fascinating communities that are creating innovative solutions to health problems. Presenters: Ashlie Brown and Rebecca Rapport. February 27, 2019, 12-1pm
Other highlights from the conference, including Colorado journalist Vic Vela's personal story of addiction and recovery, plus speeches from outgoing Governor John Hickenlooper, incoming Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera, and Senator Michael Bennet, are available to stream.
