In early 2025, leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives put forward proposals that could cut tens of billions of dollars from federal Medicaid funding.

Cuts of this magnitude could force states to reduce their Medicaid membership, leaving many people uninsured. This data story from the Colorado Health Access Survey looks at how Medicaid greatly reduced the problem of uninsurance in Colorado and what happens to people when they don't have health insurance.
