The Little Book of Health Bills (and Other Stories)

Each year, a flurry of activity overtakes the state Capitol from January to May, when our 100 state legislators — advised by staff members, constituents, lobbyists, advocacy groups and others — contemplate hundreds of bills and cast important votes that affect Coloradans.

This year’s legislation tackled topics as diverse as school testing, winter driving on Interstate 70, construction defect laws, and of course health care. We pay special attention to the last subject. But if you don’t spend your days watching committee hearings and floor votes, how can you know what health policy bills passed and failed, what trends emerged from the session and what issues are sure to return next year?

Lucky for you, CHI’s annual Legislation in Review (LIR) report explains just that.

Released each year to summarize the recently completed session from a health policy perspective, the 2015 LIR promises to be useful to legislators and decision-makers across the state. In addition to spotlighting the most notable (or notorious) health care bills, this year’s publication examines debates over the state budget, the politics of a divided legislature and the health topics that are sure to shine in 2016.

Look for CHI to take the LIR on the road this summer and fall, as we look to meet with state legislators in their districts and promote the unbiased services CHI can provide during and outside of the session.
