CHI has a legacy of expertise in health and health care delivery. Our portfolio today builds on this tradition to include the drivers of health outcomes. Our unique vantage point is the intersection of politics and policy.
Social Determinants of Health
We bring our analytic, place-based approach to examining the policies, practices, and trends affecting the social factors that determine health. Our deepest experience is in housing security, food access, and early childhood growth.
CHI engages in efforts to improve the behavioral health system, from assessing needs for substance use prevention and recovery, to evaluating programs pairing police and behavioral health providers, to studying access to mental health care and the impact of current investments. We work with organizations that aim to improve behavioral health care and access for all Coloradans.
Our goal is to support our community in understanding the drivers of inequality, clarifying the effects of inequality on health for individuals and communities, and making changes to policies, systems, and culture to create a more equitable future. Through policy analysis, strategic facilitation, and data-driven research, we identify complex challenges and promising solutions.
Decision-makers at the local, state, and federal levels turn to CHI for in-depth, independent research and policy analysis. Our services include district-specific data, analyses of the impact of bills and laws, background information for elected officials, and town hall presentations.
Access to Care
Through the Colorado Health Access Survey and other tools, CHI is able to explore the nuances of access to specialty, preventive, primary, oral, and behavioral health care across the state. Our team identifies who is and isn’t able to access care and works with partners to identify and address gaps in the state-level, system-level, and community-level policies that can affect access.
Cost, Affordability, and Payment Systems
The cost of health care is top of mind for policymakers at the state and national levels. CHI has deep experience in identifying costs at the systems level, analyzing regional variations in prices, creating financial maps, and evaluating alternative payment models.
Local public health agencies rely on CHI to ensure that their efforts are consistent and coordinated. We serve as a bridge between local, regional, and statewide public health efforts, moving all parties closer to their common missions.
Health Information Technology
CHI supports connectivity between patients and the providers and community partners with whom they interact. Our work in governance allows for secure sharing of data across health, social, and human services. CHI specializes in developing the policies, processes, and data governance agreements that protect patient privacy and engender trust — allowing people to harness technology to improve health for all Coloradans.
